Although alto saxophonist Phil Woods had previously recorded with Jimmy Raney and his trumpeter Jon Eardley, Woodlore was only his second album as a leader. Although the recording is almost 70 years old, it has lost none of its freshness. Woods is bursting with energy and shows that he has mastered the basics of bebop to perfection.
In addition to the standards Slow Boat to China, Be My Love and Woodlore, the quartet also presents their own compositions.
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
