Junior Wells and his harmonica are unforgettable. Just like his great debut album "Hoodoo Man Blues" from 1965, which became a classic of electric blues; it was also the first LP by a Chicago blues band.
The high quality 45 RPM double LP pressing with fine remastering by Kevin Gray gives the work the space it deserves and lets not only Wells but also the playing of his companions, guitarist Buddy Guy, bassist Jack Myers and drummer Billy Warren, come across as full of soul. The opener, the up-tempo 'Snatch It Back and Hold it', gets you in the mood right away, but the slower tracks like 'Early in the Morning' also convey a real, earthy, deep mood. The recording combines the excellent acoustics of a professional studio with an intimate nightclub atmosphere that will get your feet and head tapping. Definitely worth a listen!
We recommend the use of "L'Art du Son" LP cleaner to wet wash your vinyl. Even new records of high quality production will benefit from this.
